asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will take additional steps to publicise in simple terms social service benefit entitlements, for example, by arranging for the distribution of explanatory leaflets to the homes of all disabled, handicapped, and registered unemployed persons; and if she will make a statement.

I take it that my hon. Friend has in mind both cash benefits and services. To set out the range of central and local government initiatives which respond to the wide-ranging needs of disabled people and others is by no means easy. We do, however, have a booklet "Help for Handicapped People" which deals as simply as possible with a wide range of benefits. This booklet has been widely distributed to individuals and to organisations on the lines envisaged by my hon. Friend. A revised version will be available later in the summer.
