asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he intends to take to increase the rate of manufacturing investment.

As my right hon. Friend said in his statement to the House on 1st July, the Government are determined to bring down the rate of domestic inflation to 10 per cent. by the next pay round and to single figures by the end of 1976. This in itself is the best incentive for investment.
