asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he has received representations from the Cyprus Government concerning the danger of a further offensive by Turkey; and if he will make a statement.

The Cyprus Government have expressed their concern on a number of occasions. The Turkish Government have told us that there is no truth in rumours that they intend a further offensive. We have told both sides that we would deplore any provocative actions that could lead to a renewal of the fighting.
