asked the Secretary of State for the Environment by what percentage the numbers employed by British Rail have risen since December 1973; and how many more vacancies remain to be filled before the staff is considered to be up to establishment.

By 1ยท6 per cent. at the end of June. As announced by my right hon. Friend on 30th June, British Rail's staffing complement is under review.
