asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what action has he taken under Section 2(1) of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970 to provide "general guidance" to local authority social services departments to provide facilities available under Section 2 of the Act; and if he will make a statement.

Guidance on the provision of services for disabled persons has been given to local authorities in various circulars issued by my Department. I am sending copies to the hon. Member. In addition, a booklet prepared by the Department of Health and Social Security on "Local Authority Holidays for the Elderly and Physically Handicapped" was issued, under cover of a circular letter, to directors of social work in September 1974.
