asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will send out a circular recommending local authorities to give priority to the purchase of goods, machinery and services from British sources.

Local authorities will, I am sure, be aware of the problems faced by British industry in competing with foreign firms in certain areas, and, as independent authorities, will be able to take such action as they think fit within present constraints on them.
