asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether, in view of the increasing need for consumer advice and information and the decision announced in "The Attack on Inflation", Command Paper No. 6151, to give a special Exchequer grant for local authority consumer advice centres, she will take further steps to assist citizens' advice bureaux.

In view of the increasing demands on the citizens' advice bureaux and their importance in helping people with a wide range of consumer and other problems, I am discussing with the National Association of Citizens' Advice Bureaux an extension, this financial year and next, of the grant my Department already makes for the development of the citizens' advice bureau network.
