Mr. Michael Morris
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what prospect there is of an early payment of compensation for those British Ugandan Asians who were forced to leave Uganda.
Mr. Hattersley
My right hon. Friend raised the question of compensation with President Amin during his recent visit to Kampala and the President assured him that compensation would be paid.We expect that we shall soon be able to have a further round of official talks to build on the progress which was made between officials in Kampala last September.
