asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many convictions have been obtained in the police areas of Cheshire, Lancashire and Liverpool and Bootle in the four years to 1st April 1974, and in corresponding police areas up to 1st April 1975, where the evidence was based solely, or substantially, on identification; and if any persons from these areas have been pardoned following such convictions.

Information about convictions when the evidence for the prosecution was based solely or substantially on identification is not available. None of the persons granted free pardons during the period in question had been convicted in the police areas referred to.
