asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how much his agricultural department spends on advertising in newspapers and journals in Scotland; and whether he will list the number of regular notices which are inserted by his Department in any one year.

In the financial year ending 31st March 1975, the expenditure on advertisements relating to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland was £10,405. Advertising space in the Press is taken as circumstances require and none of the advertisements are known to fall into the category of "regular notices".
