asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he is satisfied that the thermal insulation industry can meet the demand for its products.

Production of loft insulation materials is running at several times last year's level and I am grateful to the manufacturers for their efforts in support of the "Save It" campaign. In response to demand, members of the Insulating Jacket Manufacturers' Federation are to manufacture only 3 inch hot-water cylinder jackets from 1st August to the exclusion of 1 inch and 2 inch jackets. Again this is a valuable support for the "Save It" campaign. I am, of course, aware of the difficulties which the cavity wall insulation industry is encountering. The Department's publicity is making it clear that the greatest loss of heat in the average home is through the walls and that, properly installed, cavity wall insulation is a valuabe form of thermal insulation.
