asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what estimate his Department has of the number of square feet of offices owned by local government authorities that are unoccupied; how much rent is lost by such unoccupied premises; and if he will take action designed to deal with the situation.

My right hon. Friend has no data on this subject. Local authorities are responsible for the management of office accommodation under their control.
