asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is his policy towards the recommendations contained in the van Straubenzee report on discrimination in the private sector of employment in Northern Ireland.

I have accepted in general the recommendations in the van Straubenzee report, and they are incorporated in the Fair Employment (Northern Ireland) Bill. Unfortunately, there is unlikely to be sufficient parliamentary time available in this Session to give the House the opportunity fully to consider the Bill, which has been brought from the Lords but which it is now intended to withdraw. It is nevertheless the Government's present aim to bring this most important legislation into operation early in 1976.
