asked the Secretary of State for Industry what sum of money has been raised for charity by the sale of the special charity postage stamp issue; and whether more charity postage stamp issues are planned.

The Post Office tells me that the sum of money raised by the sale of the charity stamp during the four weeks beginning 22nd January totalled £84,000. Post Office costs amounted to £31,000, but, as a gesture of good will to assist charity funds, it has agreed to meet £4,000 of its expenses in this experiment.The Post Office announced on 17th July that no further issues of charily stamps were at present planned.
