asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will publish a table showing, for each year since 1949, the national insurance contribution payable by fully employed men earning (a) national average manual earnings and (b) 80 per cent. of national average manual earnings, expressed as a percentage of the relevant earnings level before tax.
The information is contained in the following table.contributions in 1974–75 by each adult male; and what is the estimated average for 1975–76.
The average total amount paid in national insurance contributions in 1974–75 by each insured adult male was about £125; and on the same assumptions as in the Government Actuary's Report on the Social Security Benefits Uprating Order, 1975 [Cmnd 6083] the estimate for 1975–76 is about £145. These contributions include the amounts for the National Health Service and, for 1974–75, they include the separate industrial injuries contribution.
