asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what Departmental guidance is being given to London borough councils about increases in council rents during the next 12 months.

A circular will be issued shortly to all local authorities as a follow-up to the White Paper "The Attack on Inflation". This will include guidance on local authority rents for 1976–77.

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment to what extent council rents covered the cost of public housing in 1945, 1950, 1960, 1965, 1970 and all subsequent years.

Rebated rents for dwellings covered the following percentages of the annual revenue cost to local authorities in England and Wales of providing rented housing:
