asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will make a statement on progress of the implementation of that part of the Ryder Report not covered by the British Leyland Act 1975

The scheme of arrangement has been approved by the necessary majorities of shareholders and stockholders, and the court. The new company will become operative on 11th August. Progress continues to be made in restructuring the company in accordance with the organisation proposed by the Ryder team and discussions are also taking place about the consultative committees and councils involving the workforce. Further financial assistance beyond that provided by the British Leyland Act 1975 will be a matter for future discussion between the company, the National Enterprise Board and the Government
