asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if Hillingdon Council's plan to build an underground nuclear shelter as part of their new civic centre was approved by his Department; on what date the scheme was approved; and what was the approved figure for the estimated cost of the scheme.

The provision of a civic centre is a matter for local determination by the Hillingdon Council and my approval is not required to the project.
