asked the Secretary of State for Trade when he expects to receive the reports of the working groups examining the disciplinary needs for seagoing employment in merchant ships and fishing vessels; and if he will make a statement.

I expect to receive the reports of the working groups in the autumn. It is likely that they will recommend changes in the provisions of the Merchant Shipping Act 1970, as amended by the Merchant Shipping Act 1974.
