Six were retained in the hospital, of whom one was a citizen of the Irish Republic.Any person who wishes to take up employment in Northern Ireland as a nurse and who is not a Northern Ireland worker as defined by the Safeguarding of Employment Act (Northern Ireland) 1947 requires a permit under the Act from the Northern Ireland Department of Manpower Services.
