asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is aware of the pollution being caused from sulphur dioxide emissions from factories in Great Britain and the other Common Market countries and being deposited in Southern Norway; and what steps he has taken in the Council of Ministers to improve the situation.

We are actively participating in a study of the distribution of sulphur compounds organised by OECD, the results of which are expected later this year. Several other Community countries are also co-operating in the study.
