asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will raise in the Security Council of the United Nations as a threat to peace in Africa the situation in Angola, and the need for action by the United Nations in this regard.

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if Her Majesty's Government will now consider recognising the adminstration of President Samora Machel as the Government of Angola.

President Samora Machel is President of the People's Republic of Mozambique which we recognised on 25th June 1975. As regards Angola, the situation does not yet satisfy the criteria by which recognition is awarded.
