asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what standard of noise in dB(A)s is being used in relation to the assessment of properties near the M4 in the parish of Dorney for the purposes of eligibility for sound insulation grant under the Noise Insulation Regulations 1975 (S.I., 1975, No. 1763).

The Noise Insulation Regulations do not confer entitlement to insulation for properties affected by this section of the M4. It is proposed, however, to use discretionary powers under the regulations to offer insulation of properties suffering particularly severe noise levels.
