asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what has been the total cost of publicity incurred by her Department in the years 1973, 1974 and 1975; and what is the estimate for 1976, broken down into relevant headings.

Price Check publicity for 1975–6—The cost of advertising to the general public and to the trade and of printing and distributing the promotion kits for retailers is a charge on funds made available for the counter-inflation publicity campaign. Estimates of the costs of price check publicity were given in reply to the hon. Member for Cirencester and Tewkesbury (Mr. Ridley) on 16th February.—[Vol. 905, c. 503–4.]1976–7 The provision for publicity is £103,700.
