Miss Richardson
asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people have been deported, for the years 1975 and 1976 to date, using the deportation procedure laid down by Parliament; how many have been recommended for deportation and subsequently deported after conviction in a magistrates' court or county courts; and into which categories of people such as students, visitors, businessmen and similar groups those deported fall.
Dr. Summerskill
The available information is given below for deportation orders made under Sections 3(5)(a), 3(5)(b) and 3(6) of the Immigration Act 1971. Information about the categories in which persons deported from the United Kingdom were given leave to enter could not be provided without disproportionate cost.
