asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will ensure in future that public notices relating to planning applications invite all shades of opinion to make themselves known as an alternative to the present practice of inviting only objections to planning applications.

Except for applications involving departures from the development plan, which need be advertised only if the local planning authority are minded to grant planning permission, the present statutory notices already invite any representations to be made.
