asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he anticipates a substantial reduction in the price of potatoes to the consumer following the improvement in the United Kingdom 1976 crop when compared with 1975.

Because of the drought, total United Kingdom production of potatoes is expected to be about the same as last year. There has been no significant improvemenet in this season's crop in recent weeks and I am afraid that we cannot look to additional home supplies of potatoes to bring about a substantial reduction in consumer prices.

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is satisfied there will be an adequate supply of seed potatoes for the 1977 season.

There should he adequate supplies available to enable potato growers to plant next year's target area.
