asked the Secretary of State for Employment for how many months in each of the years 1974, 1975 and 1976 the percentage unemployed in the Brighton area has been equal or in excess of the national average figure.

Rates of unemployment in the Brighton travel-to-work area equalled or exceeded those for Great Britain six times in 1975 and nine times in 1976. The Brighton travel-to-work area comprises the employment office areas of Brighton, Hove, Lewes, Newhaven and Shoreham.
