asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will provide an estimate for 1976–77 and a projection for the three-year period ending 1978–79 of the taxation revenue and public road cost figures given on page 112 of the transport policy document and the latest current estimates of the ratios of tax revenue to costs attributed for various types of goods vehicles.
Estimates of taxation revenue and public road costs for 1976–77 on the same basis as those given on page 112 of the Transport Policy Consultation Document Vol. 2, are shown in the table below.Public road costs at estimated outturn prices for the three individual years ending 1978–79 are expected to be approximately:
