asked the Secretary of State for Transport what progress he has made in getting a lorry routing system orbiting towns; and whether he will make a statement.

My right hon. Friend has not yet decided whether to proceed with the proposals for a national lorry route network put forward by my hon. Friend the Member for Dudley, East (Dr. Gilbert). Local authorities have their own powers to regulate the movement of lorry traffic in their own areas.
