The kind of information obtained on road traffic from the roadside censuses that were completed in November 1976 was concerned with the origins and destinations of road journeys and the purposes for which people make them by the various vehicle classes. The survey information was obtained to assist my right hon. Friend in fulfilling his responsibilities for road planning.
