asked the Secretary of State for Industry, in view of the social problems created by the closure of sub-post offices in rural areas, what general guidance he will give to the Post Office.

Under the Post Office Act the Post Office has to meet the social industrial and commercial needs of the British Islands but at the same time to have regard to efficiency and economy. I see no need for any general guidance.
