Lord James Douglas-Hamilton
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what are the latest estimates of the number of persons with British passports resident in Uganda; how many are known to be missionaries of the Church of Scotland; how many are missionaries of other Churches; and which other Churches are involved.
Mr. Rowlands
There are some 500 United Kingdom passport holders resident in Uganda. Some 170 of these are missionaries; no breakdown is available by religious denomination.
