asked the Secretary of State for Defence what percentage of the defence budget has been spent on (a) research, and (b) development of approach systems in each of the last 10 years; and what has been the actual expenditure in each case at 1977 of the last 10 years; and what has been the actual expenditure in each case at 1977–78 prices.
