asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will raise at the Belgrade Conference the actions of the Romanian authorities in preventing the Very Reverend Father Lucian Gafton, a British resident, formerly Representative of the Patriarch of Romania to the See of Canterbury, who recently returned to Romania to visit his father, from returning to the United Kingdom.

At a meeting in Belgrade later this year, there will be an opportunity for a thorough exchange of views on the implementation of the CSCE Final Act, including its provisions on freedom of movement. If it seems appropriate to raise individual cases such as that of Father Gafton, the Government will do so.
