asked the Secretary of State for Employment in how many trade disputes the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service has acted on requests for (a) conciliation action, (b) advisory work, (c) inquiries and (d) arbitration, mediation and investigation in each of the past three years.

The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service has supplied the following information:[Vol. 916, c. 161–2]—Monday 1st May 1978 will be a bank holiday in Engand, Wales and Northern Ireland. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland announced on 27th January 1977—[Vol. 924, c. 732–3]—that in Scotland the last Monday in May will be designated as bank holiday in 1978 and subsequent years. Arrangements for the May Day bank holiday in England, Wales and Northern Ireland for 1979 and subsequent years are under consideration.
