asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the average weekly cost of supplying and running an invalid three-wheeler (a) to his Department and (b) to the user.

A fresh calculation of cost to the Department will be made by reference to expenditure during the financial year ended 31st March 1977 when this has been extracted from the accounts I will then write to the right hon. Gentleman. Meanwhile, the latest available information is based upon experience in the previous financial year; in this connection I would refer the right hon. Gentleman to my hon. Friend's reply to the hon. Member for Woking (Mr. Onslow) on 17th May last—[Vol. 911, c. 427.] Users have to meet the costs of only petrol and oil and their expenditure is not recorded by the Department.
