asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he will list the NEDC sector working parties which have recommended to the Government that the next stage of pay policy should be more flexible.

The following SWPs included, in their reports submitted at the end of last year, recommendations that pay policy should be more flexible: Non-Ferrous Foundries, Pumps and Valves, Fluid Power Equipment, Industrial Engines, Industrial Trucks, Industrial Electrical Equipment, Radio and Electronic Components, Ferrous Foundries, and Constructional Steelwork. A number of other SWPs whose reports have not been published made similar recommendations.

The Ferrous Foundries, Non-Ferrous Foundries, Industrial Engines, Industrial Trucks, and Constructional Steelwork SWPs included recommendations, in their reports submitted at the end of last year, for tax changes to restore incentives and differentials generally. Some other SWPs whose reports have not been published made similar recommendations.
