asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what proportion of children in appropriate age ranges in local authority care has been so placed by the courts following juvenile proceedings.

The following percentages of children of the ages shown who were in care in England at 31st March 1976 were committed to care by a care order made under the Children and Young Persons Act 1969—excluding children committed under interim care orders or on remand to care:
