asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she is satisfied that teachers who are lost from the education departments of the polytechnics of Wales, Preston, Portsmouth and Central London will be replaced by others having equal experience of the problems of urban schools.

In formulating her proposals for the future of the teacher training system my right hon. Friend has taken full account of the needs of urban areas. The proposals would increase the proportion of teacher training taking place in urban institutions.
