asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received from the Confederation of Fried Fish Caterers Associations concerning the establishment of a 200-mile fishing limit around British islands in the South Atlantic: and if he will make a statement.

In 1976 the then Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food received a number of representations from the Confederation of Fried Fish Caterers Associations concerning the possible commercial exploitation of fish stocks in the South Atlantic based on the British islands in that region. The question of extending fishery limits around those islands to 200 miles is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs but I understand that it is still under consideration.
