asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what recent assessment has been made of the number of composite classes existing in Scottish primary schools what is the total number in each Scottish region; and what trend, if any, is reflected in these statistics.

Information about composite classes has not hitherto been collected as part of the annual School Census but will be available from the Census returns made in September 1977.
