asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he will publish a table showing a comparison of the export or foreign currency earnings of the motor vehicle, whisky and tourist industries in each of the last 10 years.

Figures of export sales of the motor vehicle industry and of exports of whisky are given in the following table:

For the tourist industry, the most appropriate information is the expenditure in the United Kingdom by overseas residents which is shown as the credit item of the travel account of the balance of payments. Information is given in Table II of the publication "United Kingdom Balance of Payments 1965–75". The latest figures for 1975 and 1976 are £1,123 million and £1,628 million respectively.
