asked the Secretary of State for Trade what progress is being made in the discussions between the EEC and Japan concerning the dumping of steel and, in particular, special steels.

Negotiations about the quantities of Japanese exports of special steels to this country during the remainder of this year are in their final stages. I expect to be able to report the results very shortly.

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is his estimate of the proportion of domestic consumption of tool and high-speed steel which was met by imports during each of the last four years and in the first quarter of 1977.

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what has been the level of imports of steel in the main categories, by volume and by value, into the EEC during each quarter of 1976 and the first quarter of 1977 and the comparable figures of imports into the United Kingdom in the same periods.
