asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the recent meeting in Versailes of Finance Ministers and central bankers of the United Kingdom, the United States of America, West Germany, France and Japan.

Yes. I attended a dinner given by Mr. Barre on 23rd April attended by the Finance Ministers from Central Bank Governors or their representatives from the five countries in question. The purpose of the meeting was an informal exchange of views on current economic and monetary problems.
