asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland to what extent the Ulster Defence Regiment and the Royal Ulster Constabulary share common training procedures.

The two forces differ in both nature and rĂ´le, and the training that is appropriate for military forces is not necessarily equally appropriate for the police. What is important is that the operational activities of the two forces are closely co-ordinated, and this is already the case.
