The estimated costs of military operations in Northern Ireland for the years since 1969 are as follows:

1970–71—£6½ million
1971–72—£14 million
1972–73—£29 million
1973–74—£33 million
1974–75—£45 million
1975–76—£60 million
1976–77—£65 million.
