asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will list in numbers and percentages the flag registrations of oil supply boats, safety and support vessels, crane barges, pipelaying barges and drilling rigs, deployed in the Scottish jurisdiction sector of the North Sea.

Data immediately available from a number of sources is as follows:

(a) Total number of standby vessels issued with current voluntary Department of Trade safety certificates operating on United Kingdom Continental Shelf on 1st May 1977, of which:99(100)
(i) British registered82(83)
(ii) Foreign registered17(17)
(b) Total number of crane and pipe-laying barges currently known to be deployed on United Kingdom Continental Shelf, of which:16(100)
(i) British registered2(12)
(ii) Foreign registered14(88)
(c) The total number of supply boats operating on the United Kingdom Continental shelf is not immediately available. About 70 supply vessels are currently in the British register, of which some 50 are believed to be deployed on the United Kingdom Continental Shelf.
(d) Total number of mobile installations currently operating on the United Kingdom Continental Shelf under the Mineral Workings Act, of which:25(100)
