asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many Irish Republican Army bombing attacks have been made in Belfast since Friday 13th May 1977; how many arrests have been made in connection with these outrages; and what is the estimated cost of damage.

In the period up to 23rd May there were nine explosions caused by devices which are believed to have been planted by the Provisional IRA. Five people are assisting the police with their inquiries into the incidents. These inquiries are being vigorously pursued. The information requested in the last part of the Question is not yet available.
