Pay Settlements (Public Sector)

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether she will list the groups of public sector employees in whose pay settlements her Department is involved; whether those settlements are at national or local level;

* Negotiations in respect of Further Education Teachers have, since 1st January 1976, covered staff in Colleges of Education and Farm Institutes whose settlements were previously separately negotiated.
† In addition to increases on the normal operational date of 1st April these groups received further increases with effect from 24th May 1974 in consequence of the Houghton Committee's recommendations.
Under an arbitration award of June 1975 notional increases as at 1st October 1974 became payable on 1st October 1975, in addition to the maximum increase permitted under the first round of pay policy.
